The Missions:
The Missions:

Polar Bears International (PBI) mission is conservation through Research, Stewardship and Education. They are all about Polar Bear protection and conservation of their environment.

Polar Bear Planet Enterprises (PBPE) mission is Change and Protect. They want residential energy users to change their simple actions to protect their finances and consequently the environment. By providing, the tools information and guidance especially with electricity usage monitoring, residential energy users can make changes to their energy use behavior. As a result, carbon emissions responsible for increasing global temperatures, will reduce.

The Problem:

Each year starving Polar Bears line up on Hudson Bay shores to await the arrival of the Sea Ice, and each year it gets later and later. Sea Ice is the Polar Bears life line. Without it they can not feed and live. If the Sea Ice disappears they WILL become extinct. 2010 Sea Ice statistics show the greatest reduction in area since records began and its only set to get worse and if we are not careful it will become a runaway train. As global warming increases the Sea Ice is becoming smaller by the day. We feed the beast with our relentless production of Green House Gases and the biggest change could be made by homeowners as a whole. The average USA non-energy efficient home produces as much Green House Gas as two average family cars in one year.

Simple Actions:

By taking simple actions we can reduce the Global Warming effect and reduce the Sea Ice damage.

Turn Thermostat down by 1 or 2 degrees.

Increase Air conditioning temperature by 1 or 2 degrees.

Close curtains in the summer to reduce solar heating.

Open curtains in the winter to enhance solar heating.

Unplug devices not being used or those with Phantom loads.

Replace old appliances with energy star rated products.

Select most economical settings on appliances.

Seal house from cracks and holes.

Insulate house.

Invest in a power conditioner and reducer. Power save 1200.

Purchase a real-time energy data monitor. Kill A Watt Monitor and PowerCost Monitor.

Various studies have shown that when homeowners have access to real-time energy data almost all of them begin to make energy savings. The Kill A Watt monitor and PowerCost Monitor empower residential energy users to make decisions of how and where they can save money. By using less electricity they are responsible for less carbon emissions.

Summary:

The Planets Canary down the mine is the Polar Bear. If we lose him we have lost everything. After a certain point we will not be able to turn back, we will not be able to change nor protect anything. Downhill without brakes. Are you getting the picture?

Now is the time!

Change and Protect
