If you have been an Article Writer for any length of time, and yes I'm referring to people who write articles that get published online, you already know how important it is to keep the powers that be at the top article directories happy. This article will discuss some of the best ways to do this. The first thing you need to consider is to write a title that's not already in the search engines. If you have any doubts about this just enter your proposed article title in google. If you don't see it pop up this is a signal that it's okay to use this title for your article.

One of the things you can do with your article contrary to popular belief is syndicate it with most of the article directories. The only big article directory that I know of that doesn't allow any kind of duplicate content is Buzzle. The others allow you to publish articles you've posted in other places as long as you wrote it yourself, meaning it's original in that sense, or you paid a ghost writer to write it for you. The other thing you need to be aware of is that it doesn't take a Phd in Literature to publish articles on the internet. In fact if you start viewing articles at any of the major article directories like Ezine Articles or Articles Base, you'll notice almost all of their articles are written in very clear, laymen's language.

Another thing you don't want to forget is to write an article summary for each article. This is typically 2 sentences long and tells the reader what they should expect once they read your article. Almost all the top article directories require this so you should have one pre-written before you even think of submitting your article. Also when you write the main content of your article, consider targeting a keyword phrase in the article. Make sure it shows up just once or twice for every hundred words you write or it may appear spammy. Also make sure your content delivers what you originally promised your reader in the description you just wrote. This goes a long way in developing credibility with your reader and could get them excited on clicking your author bio link at the bottom.

Finally never put URL's or any type of self-promotion in any articles you write for anyone. The purpose of an article is to educate, inform and deliver free value to the reader. You will only make money when they get interested enough to click your author bio link at the bottom of your article and visit your website. However don't forget that articles can also be monetized in other ways, such as building quantity of links going back to retail stores. And they are especially effective when trying to tackle local markets, since the chances are nil that someone in your city with the same type of Brick & Mortar business will actually take the time to start writing lots of articles and submit them to the top article directories.
