subject: Latest Updates For R4i Card [print this page] The R4i must be one of the robust and solid flash cards I've had the pleasure of reviewing. It's solid as a rock with no chips producing from its front label. The case is a nice addition as it's padded for extra durability. The wrist strap is nothing special. The Micro SDHC Card Reader is USB v2.0 compatible, but I've used faster ones. However, if you don't own one it's an added bonus. Overall I say the contents of the package are great.
Like most Slot 1 flash cards that use Micro SDHC cards as their storage medium you'll have to locate and extract the file system onto the R4i. After visiting the URL printed on the label in the inside of the box I downloaded the "ENG_1.54.rar firmware which when extracted came exposed to be 15.1 MB (15,921,152 bytes). All that is required is to copy over the contents of the archive to your Micro SDHC R4i and you're almost there.
The next thing to do is copy over any multimedia files you want on your DSi. These include MP3, text, pictures and movies. However, movies must be first converted into the DPG format which the built in multimedia player Moon Shell uses to playback your multimedia files. One would expect the inclusion of Moon Shell v2.00 as this is a newer flash card, but they are still including v1.0 in the firmware package. However, you can install Moon Shell v2.00 pretty easily on your own R4i.
You will probably want to separate your multimedia files into sub-folders on the SD Card (i.e. - make folders named Music, Videos, Text, Homebrew and Games) and then copy over all of your multimedia files into those folders. Remember, you should only copy over free homebrew games and backups of games you own on your R4i. It's highly illegal to copy over games you don't own (no exceptions!).
