subject: How to do a Droid Repair for a Loose Battery Cover [print this page]

There have been numerous new owners of the Droid cell phone that have been a difficult time with problems with the call

phone's battery cover/door. The battery cover either falls off all together or it moves around. The call phone's service

provider learned of this problem some time ago and has been sending out replacement covers to those who were having problems

free of charge. However, if you haven't been able to receive one of these replacements for whatever reason, here are some

repairs that you can make.

You will need some paper the size of the battery door/cover and a flathead screwdriver.

Method One

Remove the battery cover from your Droid cell phone. Take the piece of paper that is the size of the battery cover and fold

it three times and set it on top of the battery. Put the cover back into place and lightly run your fingers over the cover to

ensure that isn't still loose. Should you have to remove the cover off again, this time use both thumbs and pull out and push

down. This will provide some extra security to your battery cover. It might not entirely repair the problem, but it will

prevent accidental slip offs from occurring as often. .

Method Two

Remove the battery cover from the back of the phone. Find the horizontal, small piece of metal at the very top of your Droid

cell phone's battery are that is exposed. Place a flathead screwdriver beneath of the piece of metal and very carefully lift

the metal upwards slightly using the screwdriver. Test the cover after replacing the battery cover. If necessary apply more

prying action with the screwdriver if the door still won't lock into place. However, you need to be careful because you

should only bend it a little at a time to reduce the chances of damage to your cell phone.

Be very careful whenever you insert anything into the battery area. Know the location of your SIM card since you can possibly

damage this small card by mishandling this sensitive area.

This repair isn't foolproof but it should help at least until you can get the service provider to send you a new battery

cover. The repair is low risk meaning there is little chance of doing any permanent damage to your Droid cell phone as long

as you follow the instructions.
