subject: Stylish & practical boots for the British winter [print this page] The Great British winter can often be especially harsh, and it's certainly not unusual to find yourself freezing in the cold, no matter how wrapped up you are. Often, we remember to wrap ourselves up to the hilt in parkas, scarves, woolly hats and gloves but forget to wear something sensible on our feet. Incredibly, around 20% of our total body heat is lost through our feet, but it's often tempting to go out wearing baseball shoes or trainers better suited to the summer instead of wearing a pair of boots that don't go with the rest of your outfit.
Sometimes we'll only have the one pair of old boots lying around, and they can really lower the tone of the rest of your fashion-conscious outfit. However, that doesn't need to be the case, as there are a great range of boots to go with any outfit on the market. Whether you're looking for something tailored towards more physical activity like going on long walks, something that'll keep up with heavy duty manual labour in the harshest of conditions or something that will look good in a board meeting, there should be a pair of boots on the market that will cater to your needs.
Sturdy, steel toe capped boots are always popular among those needing to do plenty of manual labour in tough conditions, and they're also particularly adept at keeping your feet dry and warm even in the worst of the British winter. Whilst, on paper, they shouldn't look particularly stylish, there are plenty of different designs by a variety of brands that look ruggedly cool as well as being completely practical. The practicality offered by these types of boots also lends them well to long walks, although there are also ranges of lace up or ankle high boots that offer comfort and practicality in winter conditions, as well as looking particularly stylish. Suede boots are a good example.
And of course, if you wanted to go really stylish, there are a great range of men's boots on offer that would look just as good in the boardroom or down the town than they would out in the snow. Tramline boots are especially popular just now, and can even look very cool outside of the office with a stylish pair of jeans. Similarly, Chelsea boots are uber-cool at the moment, and go with everything from a formal outfit, to jeans and a shirt.
It's important to keep your feet warm this winter, but there's no reason why you can't look cool whilst doing so.
