For anyone who doesn't know what mold is-Molds are fungi that grow in the form of multicellular filaments (Wikipedias definition of mold). Simply put, they are a type of fungus that grows in a moist environment. Probably the most famous mold of all times is the one from which Sir Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin, scientifically named penicillium chrysogenum. Although useful in different aspects like medicine and food and beverage industry, molds can be entirely a bother to deal with, when they invade homes.

Mold needs moisture, oxygen, a food source and a surface to grow. Molds reproduce via spores, which spread aerially. Molds are not offensive, regardless they influence a childs (or anyone for that matter) health adversely. Hence any mark of mold should be removed with sudden movement.

Symptoms of mold infection include:

Persistent cough

Nose/ throat irritation

Nose/ sinus congestion

Aspergilluss (when mold begins to grow in the lungs)

The constant threat that a mold infection in the house holds is clearly visible.

The primary focus of any mold elimination method is to block the source of moisture. After this is successfully done, the mold can be removed. Any mold infection can be of varying degrees, ranging from light to really heavy. For anything other than light infections, official support must be sought.

There are a variety of ways that official companies use mold removal techniques. They include:

Cleanup and removal: As the name suggest, the procedure is very simple. Just clean up the mold and remove the debris. However it's far compound than it sounds. A simple application of removal agents is not enough. The removal of the dead mold infection is needful as well.

Dry ice freeze blasting: Dry ice freeze blasting has become famous among few companies, where applications limit mostly on composite materials such as wood, cement etc.

Wet vacuum: The important concept behind stopping mold infection is to stop the moisture content. Wet vacuum cleaners come handy in this respect. The moist vacuum cleaners would suck in all the amount of mold inside. However care must be taken to wash the whole cleaner, so that no mold grows inside it.

Wiping with detergent: The affected space can be wiped of with a detergent and a damp cloth. However, care should be taken to dry off the surface promptly so that the mold does not acquire time and moisture to grow back.

Chemical fog: In this method a chemical fog is injected to the room. This fog is bad enough for the molds to demolish them in a really little span of time. This is a really secure approach as well, where no harm or movement is needed of the room elements.

The ways described above can be intertwined with each other as well to create stronger and more effective ways of mold removal. However, for an appropriate and thorough procedure of mold removal, it is best to leave it upon professional expertise.
