subject: The Largest Sweet spot of Callaway Diablo EDGE Driver [print this page]

Callaway Golf had a pretty big hit a couple of years ago with the release of the Big Berth Diablo Driver, Fairway Woods, and Hybrids. At the start of this season, they've released a new version which his hotter, more forgiving, and without the Big Bertha name.

With a new Hyberbolic face which adds not only stability, but a consistent sweet spot for more distance, a new shape helps with what Callaway claims will reduce swing drag by 8%. Add that to a newly designed 4 piece Titanium head and Aldila Habanero shaft and it is by far the longest driver they have made in the sub $300 category.

The Callaway Diablo Edge Driver follows is the latest addition to the popular and attention-grabbing Diablo range and boasts the largest sweet spot of any titanium driver produced by Callaway.

Like the previous Diablo, I'll have to say this club isn't the prettiest to look at! It does however perform. I tested the 10* with a stiff shaft and hit a nice consistent draw time and time again. The club face for this loft is square, and while the shaft is a little long at 45.5", you really can hit it all over the face and still get a decent result.

The new club head and face design have allowed Callaway to move a lot of weight internally to provide more accuracy than the previous model. It has a white alignment aid against an all black crown that makes it easy to set the ball up right in the middle of the club face time after time.

While I was hitting the club however I did tend to hit a bit too high. I believe the shaft has a lot to do with this as I hit a 10.5* FT9-Tour and never have this issue. All this means is that if you are a stronger player, you will notice this yourself while demo the club, and if need be you can defiantly get an upgraded shaft to keep the ball flight down. For the average golfer however, it should be a good fit.
