subject: How To Save A Marriage After An Affair [print this page]

After any situation where there has been an affair in marriage, moving forward past the suspicion, hurt and disillusionment often gets the better of a couple. On the other hand, if both partners are willing there are steps that can be taken which can eventually result in a marriage that ends up stronger than ever. Find out below how this can be achieved......

The key to overcoming the rift in your relationship that has been cause by infidelity is to focus on the forgiveness aspect..Obviously this is easier said than done, but some simple tips may make this task easier:

Focus on building a marriage that is new and improved

For many people, recovering from an affair invokes a belief that it would all be for the best if the relationship could revert to how it was before the affair... even if it wasn't that great to begin with.. Unfortunately in most situations this is not a possibility. The trust that has been shattered means the past cannot be reclaimed and your relationship cannot be fixed in such a simple fashion.

A strategy that generally works more successfully is to allow for the fact that the affair will never be forgotten, and so a new relationshipwill need to be built. New rules will need to be created and trust will need to be earned over time.

Don't allow yourself to wallow in resentment or anger

You have every reason to feel these negative emotions, but continually focusing on them will only add to the depth or your anger and resentment. If you fail to keep a rein on your emotional state there is no doubt it will lead to heated arguments in the relationship. If these arguments continue for too long, the healing process may never get a chance to begin

Be aware of when your emotions begin to take heat, and simply walk away and allow them to return to normal. Never give into the negatives beast that resides within if you want to work through your problems and rebuild your marriage and love.
