subject: The 2010 Chevy Equinox with a 3.0 liter V6 engine [print this page]

To compete with other affordable compact SUVs, Chevrolet introduced the Chevrolet Equinox in 2005. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox is the first model in the second generation of the Equinox. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox comes with two new engine options.

The first engine option, which comes standard with the 2010 Equinox, is a 2.4 liter, four cylinder engine which produces 182 horsepower and 172 pound feet of torque. Thanks to a new direct injection fuel system, the 2.4 liter engine yields great fuel efficiency for a compact SUV. The standard 2010 Equinox gets 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.

For those looking for more power out of their 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, a 3.0 liter, six cylinder engine is available. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, with a V6, generates up to 264 horsepower and 214 pound feet of torque. Due to the more powerful engine, the Equinox with a ix cylinder engine gets lower fuel economy of 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. Without Chevy's direct injection system, the Equinox's fuel efficiency would be worse.

Both engines come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive. For an additional cost, the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox can be upgraded to all wheel drive.

As the newest model in the second generation of the Equinox, the 2010 Equinox has different engine options than the 2009 Equinox. The main difference is that a four cylinder option is now available in the 2010 model, while the 2009 model had two six cylinder options. The 2009 Equinox also had the option of a 3.6 liter V6, while the largest option for the 2010 Equinox is the 3.0 liter V6.
