subject: Planting the virtual Aloe Vera in Farmville might be exposing you to computer risks [print this page]

I never really liked to play Farmville in Facebook since I have no time for it, but consistent invitations from my friends and relatives who are so hooked into it just made me say, "If you can beat them, then join them" which is up to now, I have yet regretted. For all of you who still don't know what Farmville is, no it is not a new vacation place where you spend your holiday pretending to be a farmer but it sure does involve a lot of imagination since it is a online game that has become a social network phenomenon. If you own a Facebook account, you might have already received an invitation to play it as a neighbor to relative or friend who are already going plant crazy with the game and expanding their crops.Since it was just a game, I guessed that the only bad thing that could happen to me spending time to discover how to play it to please my ever demanding aunt that I accept her as a Farmville neighbor, is that of it being a time vampire sucking precious seconds and minutes of my time that I should have otherwise spent earning real money and not digital crop. But I tried it nonetheless, but I began to quite enjoyed myself when I was able to plant my favorite Aloe Vera plant that was available after reaching level 14 The seeds cost 50 coins for me to plant and can be harvested just about every six hours for 85 coins. They also award 1 XP per plot.Since I have been using Aloe Vera as a very good treatment for my digestive issues; I was planting it like crazy thinking I wouldn't have been able to do this in real life. And as my Aloe Vera plantation was beginning to really kick its phase, I found my self interested in the game even more. But soon, there are times where I was offered virtual cash that I needed to purchase some of the "necessities" I needed to build My Aloe Vera Empire. Ha! Alas, here came the virtual problem and exposed the game of its true intent. For me to get some virtual cash I was forced to read and click some crappy advertising offers and in one instance I was offered to get the digital moolah by signing in Netflix. Thinking nothing of it, I filled up some survey and Free IQ test that to my shock, I later found out that it was leading me to subscribe in a service I didn't need and want at all and the following month, I was already seeing this service charged on my phone bill! Now if that isn't a scam, then I'm hill billy wild! Look, if you like Farmville, not a problem. But be careful because its not as innocent as it looks and soon you'll find that out hopefully, not the hard way as I did.
