subject: Why Does Acne Occur? [print this page]

First time you notice some red rashes on your face, you will start guessing and trying to attribute the new development to everything that you can imagine; often, that happens to be most unreasonable. Lack of proper understanding can aggravate any problem. This applies to acne as well. Try to understand the cause and effect of acne. You will find it easy to handle.

Some people have an opinion that acne occurs because of stress in routine life. In fact an incredibly large number of people believe this. This belief has absolutely no foundation. The truth is that your routine stress and acne have no direct relationship at all. In fact, stress is something that almost all human beings of all ages experience. But only one certain age group is the most affected. So, now we can understand the lie. The reasons for acne are entirely different.

Acne is not just an unsightly physical problem. More than that, it is an emotional bombardment. It happens mostly to the young people between attainment of puberty and until the teenage times. Contrastingly, it is this age when people are very conscious of how they appear to the outer world. They want to be the focus everywhere for all good reasons - especially for the reason of their good looks. But acne destroys this enthusiasm. These young people with acne become conscious of people looking at them only because of the ugly acne on their faces. It can take away their confidence; hurts their self-esteem, and they indulge in self-pity.

Another misconception is that acne happens because of consuming oily foods, chocolates etc. This again is not entirely true. That does mean you should be eating a lot of such stuff. Even if you eat, you should know how these foods work and what good care you give your skin. The question then is why acne occurs. But more relevant is how you prevent it or fight it.
