First and foremost you should wash it away. Frequent bathing like twice a week can help to wash away dandruff before it builds. In fact, it is a good idea to give your dog a daily bath if dandruff is really bad. Bathing a dog daily for a week or so will not be enough to dry a dog's skin.

Just bathing the dog regularly may not solve the problem. You should make sure that you use a specially formulated dog shampoo with moisturizers to avoid drying the dog's skin.

Try to bath your dog in warm water (not hot water) as this will soothe the ravaged skin.

Make sure to brush your dog often. Maintain a regimen of daily brushing that will help in stimulating the skin.

Another important thing to keep in mind is to monitor your pet's diet. A lack of fatty acids in your dog's diet may be a leading to Dandruff in your dog. If you have any doubts about the diet, you can consult a veterinarian about which all dietary supplements can be added to your dogs food. You might also want to recheck the quality of your dog's food and upgrade it if it seems to be of lower quality.

Dandruff in dogs is not a healthy sign. It is an indication that your dog can be affected by other health problems such as skin infections, allergies or an invasion of nasty parasites.

Some not so lucky dogs are born with dandruff-type skin disorders and many of these can be breed-specific. Therefore, it is important to make sure about what the problem actually is before you conclude that your dog's problem dandruff is dandruff in dogs.
