Its that time of year again the start of a new school year. While some people dread the prospect, others use it as an opportunity to get a new wardrobe and new shoes. This season, designers are more inspired than ever before, and the fall fashions are truly incredible. If you need a new pair of school shoes to replace your old ones, or just want to update your look, here are some of the best shoes for back to school.

Loafers

Loafers have always been a classic style for school, and the look never goes out of fashion. They look perfect with tights and a skirt for a preppy, pretty style. This season there are a lot of really fun variations on the loafer. For a fun, funky look, go for a bright, shiny loafer with a low heel and a shimmery, fun finish. For a really great retro look, check out a pair of classic Oxfords or Mary Janes. This year the classic loafer is still popular too, and can be found in black and brown leather and as a flat or with a chunky, two-inch heel.

Flats

Flats are great shoes for girls of all ages. The style really became popular a few years ago and since then it has managed to become a staple in everyones wardrobe. The great thing about flats is that they are comfortable and come in such a huge variety of colours, materials and shapes. For a really clean, sophisticated look, go for a shiny black patent shoe with minimal embellishments. If you want a bit more flare, go for an animal print finish with a zebra, tiger or giraffe pattern. If you want something in between, take a look at solid colours with a bit of embellishment such as bows or silver charms and metal hardware.

Trainers

Trainers are great shoes for every girl as they are very comfortable and very street-stylish. If you are looking for a pair of athletic trainers, make sure they are suited to the type of sports you plan on participating in. The most important features to look for are support and comfort. For street trainers, you will want a pair that has bright colours and an interesting pattern. Comfort is still something to consider, but it wont be as important since you wont be running and jumping around in them.

Boots and Booties

Boots are always a great fall shoe for when the weather starts to cool off. There are plenty of different styles available at different heights. If you like full coverage, go for a knee-high boot but skip the heel. Look for a lower, chunkier heel that will be comfortable for walking around in all day. Another great look that is hot this season is the bootie. Booties are smaller than normal boots and generally come up just above the ankle. Check out booties with a small wedge and laces for a very versatile, fashionable look.
