Superstitions Nature A great part of students life is spent for the examination period. It is a stressful and exciting period which touches every sphere of students life, including culture. So, students superstitions appeared and entered a students folklore: anecdotes, tales jokes, and etc. Usually superstitions are connected with anxiety: when one student flares up, other students follow. They are always motivated by one simple phenomenon: a fear of unknown. In fact, with a high educational payment in colleges and universities a little bit of superstition may not critically hurt. Superstitions may even give some psychological protection but there are still some negative effects. Some Negative Effects of Odd Beliefs 1. Students may get lost with reality and superstitions. As a result, they lose concentration and may fail their exams or give an incomplete answer especially if they previously saw a "bad omen". 2. Superstitions fascinate, so students may look for some more charms instead of studying and this leads to loss of interest in studies. 3. Sometimes strong belief leads to mental disorders as paranoia or irritability or other and it is a very complicated task to help such people to come back to reality. 4. Superstitions are caught like a cold: if one is ill, others easily get infected. Teenagers jointly strengthen each other's beliefs. Such Steps May Be Used as a Cure 1. A student should think positively in order to give up a failure fear. 2. Parents should guide him/her accurately and show real life examples. 3. Teachers should start discussions about the nature of reality. 4. There are different specialists as researchers and intellectuals who may consult a student about actual facts of the reality and through debates explain superstitions nature. 5. There are different scientific media means which research superstitions nature and explain it to viewers.
