When times were bad, I was forced to start tending peoples gardens to make a living. It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I now have a very successful business and a strong customer base. Every day, my existing customers are handing out my card, recommending people to get in contact with me. This proves that I must be good at what I do.
Most of the clients just need small amounts of gardening, such as mowing the lawn or cutting down trees however I have noticed an increase in the number of customers that want their gardens totally redesigned. Garden design is now a hot topic. It is no longer just interior designers that are in demand. More and more people want a garden that looks good but is low maintenance.
I always get so many ideas when I am designing a garden however it was not until I completed my first landscaped garden that I realized I had a big problem. I needed to find a way to get rid of trees, plants, old stones and rubbish. I had completely changed the design of the garden but had not planned on what I was going to do with all the rubbish that was left over.
I had the big problem of transporting it to the dump as well as the extra costs that the dump would charge me. It turns out that I was worrying for nothing as a college suggested I simply hired a skip and put all the rubbish in there.
This was actually a good idea and I was surprised that I had not thought of it myself. I searched around and found a good skip company that was local. I took a look at the various sizes of skips they offered and decided I would need a large skip. I did not have to apply for a permit as the skip would be placed on the drive way of the property and not the local road. The very next day, the skip was delivered and I set about filling it up with all the rubbish that had accumulated.
I could hire skips on a daily basis so booked this skip for two days which would give me enough time to fill it. When the skip was filled, I called the company and they came to collect it. There was no headache involved and the charge was next to nothing so I did not have to pass this cost onto my customer.
I am gaining more and more customers that require landscape gardening so I find myself ringing the skip company at least once a week. I know the owner of the company on a first name basis and often joke that I should receive discount for using them so often.
You will find that anyone can use skip companies to get rid of the waste. You do not have to be a business. Even if you are just a property owner, they will welcome your custom. So if you are completing major work and need someone to take away all your waste, simply ring your local skip company for peace of mind and an easier work load.
