Local Internet Marketing

We all know that the business world has changed in recent times. An additional and bigger problem exists with the huge numbers of businesses that are either in denial of these facts or simply are not aware of the advantages of Local Internet Marketing and are therefore blind to the massive benefits.

Just to be absolutely clear on this point, I am talking about the advantages of using the Internet to market a business, a brand or products and services to a local community.

if you own a cafe in London, your catchment area is hardly likely to include Edinburgh, Norwich or Cardiff, so there would be little point in targeting potential diners in these areas. To ensure success, it makes commercial sense to target potential customers from the locality and perhaps the surrounding cities and towns.

In this modern world, there is no better tool than the Internet, be it by video, social media or a properly optimised website attracting hoards of targeted traffic. Of course there will always be doubters! traditional ideals die hard and some still class the likes of Facebook and Twitter as a platform only 'kids use to swap gossip' or the Internet as a place where 'geeks' hang out. Twitter boasted a 1100% traffic increase in 2009 alone with over 50 million tweets sent every day and YouTube receives over 2 billion views per day with 70% of the traffic coming from outside the

Add the fact that 1 in every 3 minutes of our leisure time is spent online and that it took the Internet only 4 years to reach 50 million users, whereas it took radio 38 years and television 13 years. If these facts aren't convincing enough, also think about the fact that Google performs over 80 billion searches every month!

Maybe the biggest problem of all is that most business owners large or small have no idea about online branding, web development or local Internet marketing. Fortunately however, there are solutions.

Perhaps the only question you need to ask now is "Can my business afford to miss out?"
