subject: What is Islam? Acknowledgement of one etrenal unique God [print this page] What is Islam? What is Islam?
Islam is acknowledgement of one and only unique eternal God without any proof or evidence for His existence.
Islam means submitting oneself unto this God.
Islam is a divine message considered by 1.4 billion Muslims on the world today.
Islam is the third divine message after Judaism and Christianity.
Islam is exemplified in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad.
The Qur'an is considered by Muslims to be the actual verbatim word of God.
It is composed of nearly one hundred thousand words laid out in one hundred and fourteen chapters
The Sunnahcomprises ofthe dictums (about thirty thousands) and practice of Prophet Muhammad during his twenty last years of his life (between 610-632AD: The Prophet was born in Mekka and lived for sixty three years).
Islam was revealed unto Muhammad by Archangel Gabriel in 610 AD.
The Qur'an and the Practice of Muhammad prescribe laws for Muslims in the political domain, in the social domain and in the economic domain.
Islam regulates man's relations in a four-dimensional system:
Man-God, man- himself, man-man, man-universe.
Islam is only an invitation for mankind to take heed of a doomsday where everybody shall be held to account for their deeds.
Islam charges every individual with the divine message and holds every him, or her, responsible for his, or her, deeds on the day of judgment.
Every individual shall be judged before God to account for his, or her, deeds in their earthy life.
Islam gives one opportunity for humans to prove their good will and believe in God.
Islam invites humans to look into the universe and themselves in order to believe in God.
This is an invitation, non-compulsive for every man.
Man has the freedom of choice between belief and disbelief in God.
Belief in Islam means : belief in God, His Angels, His books, His messengers and the last day of judgement.
Man has also the freedom to obey or disobey the divine law (known as Shari'ah: meaning Way)
The essence of the Islamic message is only a reminder to mankind and whoever wills take the path of God or disbelieve, taking the path of the devil.
Islam considers man to be born with a tabula rasa sheet, on which he marks his own deeds.
The consequences of man's thoughts and deeds are to be reaped by reward and punishment.
Reward in eternal felicity of paradise is granted for believers in God.
Punishment in hell fire is granted for disbelievers.
Thus, in Islam, Man makes his own destiny. He is his only savior.
