With five weeks remaining in baseball's regular season, several postseason stalwarts have fallen on hard times. Although unlikely, it is possible that they all could end up watching the playoffs instead of participating in them this season Authentic NFL jerseys. A pitcher, hitter and team that must heat up dramatically in September after suffering through a miserable August:

Summer is over, but the deals aren't done

For the most part, the summer of 2010 is over, and teams are gearing up for training campwhich starts in less than two weeks. It was certainly an eventful summer, with some of the most significant transactions in NBA history going down

But here's the thing: The transactions coming out of the summer of 2010 aren't quite over yet.

That's because many teams who lost big-ticket players took advantage of a curiosity in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement called a traded player exception. Basically, if a team is below the salary cap, it can trade a player to another team and, rather than take back a player of similar value, simply take back an empty salary slot. The team can use that slot to acquire a new player, even if it is over the cap, but the team has only one year to use the TPE or lose it.

The Jazz did just that this summer by sending Carlos Boozer to Chicago in a sign-and-trade NHL jerseys. The Jazz got back a trade exception worth $14 million and sent that exception to Minnesota for Al Jefferson. The trade exception, essentially, can allow a team to buy a player off another team looking to cut payroll.

the Rockets hardly have the biggest TPE

It was the TPE that helped convince the Rockets to send Trevor Ariza to New Orleans as part of a four-team trade that saw Houston land Courtney Lee. The Rockets now have $6.3 million that can be used to pluck a player off another roster.
