During his teenage years he reviewed films and plays on LBC Radio's Young London programme as one of its "Three O'Clock Reviewers", and worked as an intern to Tony Benn.
Ed Miliband attended Haverstock Comprehensive School in the Chalk Farm district of London. He then studied a masters degree at The London School of Economics where he was awarded an MSc in Economics.
Ed Miliband has be an MP for Doncaster North since 2005 and was a member of the cabinet from 2007 to 2010 where initially he was the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. After this he was given the role as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
Hi younger brother David Miliband is also a politician and stood against Ed Miliband in the Labour leadership election to choose the successor to Gordon Brown following his resignation after the general election defeat. The Miliband brothers are the first siblings to sit in Cabinet simultaneously since Edward, Lord Stanley and his brother Oliver in 1938.
After a short career in television journalism, Miliband became a speechwriter and researcher for the Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury Harriet Harman in 1993, and then for Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown the following year. After Labours landslide victory in 1997 Ed Miliband was given the role of one of Gordon Browns special advisors with his main responsibility being that of speechwriter for the Chancellor of the Exchequer
As the new Labour leader he faces the task of swaying people away from the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition. However, with the "ConDems" making massive cuts the new leader's job is becoming easier every day.
