Not All Cat Condos Are Built The Same: Quality Matters

The people I own are buying me a new cat condo. It's about time! Not that the cat condo they originally brought home did not look nice. It was very attractive and outfitted with all the bells and whistles. Pretty is as pretty does, and this one just would not do. The first time I took a running leap and scrambled to the top, it started teetering dangerously toward the china cabinet. My people quickly moved it to a safer place in a corner. That helped some, but it was still rocky if I started playing too hard, and I love to play hard. Therefore, they put a hook in the wall and wired the cat condo to it so it wouldn't fall over. They did not like the way that looked.

Man, is creeping around all over that thing fun. I can stalk small game and take flying leaps at the hanging toys. I can scramble from the ground all the way to the top in seconds flat. I was playing a fun game with the dog one day. You know the one. He's laying there unsuspectingly on the floor, wagging that bushy tail. I stalk that tail and pounce fast and hard. Boy, does he ever have a big reaction to that! Then the fun begins. He jumps up to chase me, but has a hard time getting traction on the tile. Meanwhile, I pretend he's a wolf and run for my life. I leaped at the cat condo tree and climbed as fast as I could. That's when I found the nail sticking out. It sure did hurt when it ripped my foot. Of course, the pay off was I got a lot of attention from my people. Still, it was an unpleasant surprise. The Boss Man said something uncomplimentary about the cat condo and gave it a kick.

Nobody suspected that the cat condo was also contaminated. That's right, bad news. My people said they should have done better research about the materials used in the construction. There were some dangerous chemicals used that could be toxic to the children and myself. When they found that out, they took my cute cat condo away. They promised to go right away and get me a better cat condo that would not fall over, have loose nails or poison me.

Why Play Is Important To Your Cat

I'm sure you treat your cat like an additional member of the family, and so a daily dose of TLC is always in order. We cats certainly deserve to be given a safe, protective, and fun environment that can, of course, come in the form of a cat house. A cat house will not only provide us shelter, but also a shield from the sun, cold temperatures, and any other conditions that may harm us felines. More importantly, a cat house can give us a gem of a space as it serves as a place for playing and relaxing, indoors or outdoors.

I know for a fact that there is a perfect cat house for your friend, since I have a great one. Cat houses come in many forms ranging from single-story houses to multi-level condos. When choosing a basic cat house, select a model that offers safety, comfort, and low maintenance solutions. There are cat houses made out of natural, chemical-free materials such as cedar which are washable and have natural flea repellents.

I value playtime with my humans and I know they love it too, no matter how old they are. I also know kittens will play with anything! Doing so actually helps us develop our ability to pounce, wrestle, and kick, which are all essential motor skills for hunting. Playing really is part of our nature. As a cat friend, you must allow your friends to play in order for them to grow happy and healthy. Even grown cats like me need some playtime. Playing gives us good exercise and also develops the mental abilities needed for stalking and hunting. In fact, playing is actually a form of therapy for us. When done properly and consistently, playing can help us become less aggressive and more adaptable to new environments and people.

I assure you, a cat house can uphold this necessity for playtime. A cat house that offers fun and relaxation may be your best bet. There are cat houses modeled after trees and castles which allow a lot of room for us to play in. These models can go as high as 6 feet and can be made of basket weave, carpet, or wood.

With such fun-inspired designs, we will not only have a place to rest, but an exciting playground as well. Getting us a fun and functional cat house is absolutely purrfect!
