subject: The Movie Guessing Game [print this page]

Its the weekend and you are boredIts the weekend and you are bored. Clueless of what you can do? Here is a movie guessing game you can play and enjoy with your family or friends. This game is sure to bring out the actor in you.

The objective of the game is to guess the movie correctly based on the character that a player attempts to act out. What you will need are papers and some containers or papers to hold the papers. Oh, and a good eye for movies and their characters, too.

First, come up with a movie genres list with genres you and your companions might be familiar with. Examples of movie genres are Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Musical, Science Fiction, and War. For each of the genres, come up with list of movies. For example, under Comedies, there may be movies like 50 First Dates, Ace Ventura, and Click. Write each movie on individual sheets of paper of the same size. Then, beneath each title, write down the name of a character from that the movie. For example, from 50 First Dates, you might write the character Lucy Whitmore, played by Drew Barrymore. Do this for every other movie in the Comedy genre, as well as each movie genres list. You might write a short description of who the character is, if the other players are not movie fanatics, just to prompt their memory. Fold all the papers neatly and sort them into their genre basket or container.

To play the game, a player of one team will need to choose from the genre they think they are most comfortable and knowledgeable with. Then, they will randomly pick one of the folded papers in the chosen genre container. Once picked, they will need to open the paper and understand which character of a movie they had picked out. Then, they will need to act out only the character they had picked out, while their team members will need to guess what movie that character is from within 1 minute. The winning team is the one with the highest score. Propose punishments to the losing team, and everyone is sure to laugh.
