Article Marketing - Why Article Marketing Works

Article Marketing is, in my opinion, one of the very best ways to drive free, targeted traffic to a website.

And every business, no matter what it is, cannot survive without traffic.

The way Article Marketing can bring traffic to a website is two-fold. One is that article directories receive a high volume of traffic and are considered authority sites by search engines, which often results in submitted articles getting listed high in the search engines. These directories then pass on PageRank to the author's website because of the backlink, which often help the author's website to move up in the search engines.

The other way it can generate traffic is that many people who read the article will click on the author's link at the bottom of the article in the area called the "bio box" and "byline" (collectively known as the resource box) that usually include references and contact information for the author and his website.

The reason Article Marketing is one of the best ways to generate traffic is because once an article is written and submitted to an article directory, it usually stays there for years, which will bring free traffic during that time and can actually continue to grow as other webmasters and bloggers looking for content to put on their own websites might use the article and leave the link to the author's website intact, thereby increasing the exposure of the article to more people and creating another backlink to the website which the search engines will make a note of, and the more credible backlinks a website receives, the higher it moves up in the search engines.

If done on a continual basis, the traffic coming in from an article marketing campaign can become huge over time, insomuch that the webmaster will get enough traffic that there will no longer be a need to pay for the traffic needed to keep the business afloat which is usually the case with most online businesses.
