subject: The 3.0l 6 Cylinder Engine Of The 2010 Bmw X3 [print this page]

The BMW X3 returns for the 2010 model year with the venerable 3.0L Six Cylinder that is a holdover from the previous generation X3. The engine produces two hundred sixty horsepower at six thousand six hundred revolutions per minute, and two hundred twenty-five pounds of torque at two thousand seven hundred and fifty revolutions per minute. The engine features a four valve per cylinder dual overhead cam valve train, and requires premium unleaded gasoline for maximum performance. The crossover comes standard with an all wheel drive system, and also includes a "dynamic" stability control system to help the vehicle make the most of its all wheel drive system. The Environmental Protection Agency has rated the gas mileage of the six cylinder at

sixteen miles per gallon in city driving, and twenty-three miles per gallon during use on the highway. Performance figures for the X3 are impressive; according to the manufacturer, the crossover can accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in seven and nine-tenths seconds. Equally impressive, the crossover covers the quarter mile in sixteen and one-tenth seconds with a maximum speed of eighty-nine miles per hour. Safety is an important aspect of the design of the BMW X3. Standard safety features include tractions control, anti-lock brakes on all four wheels, and the aforementioned all wheel drive system. The vehicle feature airbags for both the driver and front passenger, in addition to side and rear curtain airbags for all passengers. Standard equipment on this vehicle includes automatic climate control, keyless remote control, and an AM/FM stereo system with both CD player and MP3 capability. Whether for off-roading or luxury, the BMW X3 fits the bill on all counts.
