subject: Dll Errors: How To Prevent And Fix Them [print this page]

DLL errors often occur on Windows systemsDLL errors often occur on Windows systems. These errors mean that a certain kind of file: A Dynamic Linked Library file, or DLL file, is missing, corrupt, or incompatible. These errors happen for a number of reasons. For example, if a program is installed on a computer, that program may install its own version of a DLL file or delete one that is already on the computer. Another example may be if the hardware on the computer is bad. If a hard drive is bad, then the DLL is likely to become corrupted later on if that hard drive is not switched out.

There are a variety of methods to protect a computer from DLL errors. First, make sure the computer has up-to-date anti-malware programs. Good anti-malware programs include ESET NOD32 antivirus and Kaskpersky Antivirus. These programs are known to have very good virus detection rates and will not slow down a system as much as certain other antivirus programs. Malware installs on computers silently and may modify or delete DLL files, giving DLL errors. Second, make sure that the users on that computer do not install programs randomly. Poorly written programs may remove DLL files or install incorrect ones onto a system. And finally, make sure all the hardware on a computer is in working condition. Random crashes or hardware failures can often corrupt files.

In the event of a DLL error, the most important thing to do is to use Google to find out the most common reason why a DLL error occurs. The internet often has the answer to many problems with DLL errors. It's very likely that other people have had the same problem. If that fails, then the next best move is to reinstall whatever programs the DLL error occurs in. Often times, programs come with their own version of some DLL files.
