The power of an earth magnet is a magnificent thing. The chemical makeup of these particular magnets means they can maintain their magnetic charge is all kinds of temperature situations. Because every day magnets contain alloys they are unable to make the same statement about their magnetic charge.

Ferromagnetic elements are present in earth magnets which allow them to maintain their charge in a single direction. As with any product, not all earth magnets are made the same nor perform the same. Depending on the situation the magnets are being used for, people need to be properly informed about the power and the many uses of these magnets. Earth magnets come in two different styles. The first style, which was developed during the 80s, is called the Neodymium magnet. This magnet uses boron, neodymium, and iron compounds which create the strongest magnetic charge available to man. This type of magnet has a lower temperature tolerance so there are still some limits to what it can and cannot do. These magnets are normally used in MRI, magnetic resonance imaging machines, computer hard drives, bearings, and stop animation figurines. These magnets are used in these types if equipment because of the temperature tolerance.

The second magnet is called the Samarian - Cobalt and their magnetic charge is not as strong as the Neodymium magnetic charge. Even though their magnetic field is not as strong, they can handle higher temperature situations. Samarian-Cobalt magnets are usually used in industrial pieces of equipment that work at high temperatures, motors, and even music instruments. In some situations they can be used in some of the same equipment as the first magnet type. It is important to remember that if you chose to do this, you must ensure the equipment will operate just a good even with the lesser charge.

In the ideal situation the Neodymium magnet is the best choice for a strong charge and lower temperature situations over the Samarian - Cobalt. Whichever type of magnet you decide to use, remember that there are some key safety points you must remember. The magnetic charge in these magnets is so strong they can wreak havoc in everyday places and situations. They have been known to break human bones, or pinch the parts of the body. In machines, they have been known to erase important information. Follow the manufacturer?s handling rules for proper use and to prevent accidents. Magnets of this caliber must be kept away from children as well as computers, cell phones, credit cards, or anything with a magnetic field. By following the instructions provided the user will be able to reap the benefits of these powerful magnets without jeopardizing health, safety, and vital information.
