subject: Ethan Hawke's Best Acting Performances In Throughout His Career [print this page] One of the more underrated actors working these days is Ethan Hawke. He quietly puts out great movies and chooses challenging, yet interesting roles. He is one actor who is impossible to say that he has a certain role he likes to play. For these reasons, Ethan Hawke has become one of my favorite actors recently.
Let's take a look at some of Ethan Hawke's best movies from throughout the years.
One movie that certainly has to be included on this list is Training Day. If you like cop movies, then this is a must-see. Hawke got nominated for best supporting actor in this movie, while Denzel Washington won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance.
Another movie that featured Ethan Hawke that I thoroughly enjoyed was New York, I Love You. This movie is a remake of a film about Paris with a similar name and features a bunch of short films within the film. Hawke's scene in this movie is one of my favorites.
Another movie that I would definitely include on this list is Daybreakers. Amongst the recent vampire craze, it is hard to find an original script surrounding this concept. Daybreakers takes place in a world where almost everyone has become a vampire and the world is running out of humans, and facing a starvation crisis.
There is no way to make a list of Ethan Hawke's best roles without including a Richard Linklater movie. For me, it is Before Sunset. This movie is of course the follow up to Before Sunrise and chronicles Hawke's character revisiting Paris after almost 15 years to reconnect with his one time love.
The last film that makes the cut for me is Before Sunset. I think the thing I like about this sequel to Before Sunrise is the fact that Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy were very much involved in the writing process. In fact, them and director Richard Linklater were nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
As it stands, this is my Ethan Hawke best-of list.
