subject: How To Do A Profitable Interior Design [print this page]

Interior design, and home furnishings, is an art form. For the professional, one has to create an ambiance that someone will buy.For the home owner, their task is to make a comfortable home on a budget, which sometimes can be very little indeed. The challenges are the same for both. make something interesting that works,is comfortable, something that someone will call home.

My expertise was not gained at college or university, but by actually creating designs as I developed my property developing business. In the beginning I could or would not see anything apart from what the financial gain would be. In other words how much money could be made in how quick a time scale. My early projects were all about squeezing as many apartments out of each floor of a house,in one particular house, that was purely the challenge how many flats per floor.

We worked fast and hard on this early development. It did turn out to be the last of this type that I would do. On a financial basis it was very profitable. The completion date and final sale date were reached in record time. Some of the flats were very small, hoe we built them was very skillful in a limited way.I needed a fresh challenge, I needed to satisfy another part of me,I needed to develop and design something, that I thought was really good to look at.

I entered a very pleasurable period of my life. I could create something very beautiful. I could see if what I created would be bough by somebody else. I pushed the frontiers of my knowledge and skill, and the knowledge and skill of the workforce that was with me. I used natural materials, old fashioned skill, and applied new techniques with paint finishing, Techniques like rag rolling paint, and sponge finishing on top, so a wall with many color looked normal.

The final stages were interesting, intercoms and automatic door opening systems were checked. Fire alarm, and secret entry alarms were commissioned. Custom wardrobes, that would look like a normal pine wardrobe, were made and fitted into the bedrooms that sometimes would fill a whole wall, these custom pine wardrobes, were finished in wax stains so they looked very old as a further contrast to all the modern colors. It worked, the whole venture was a success, both financially and also creatively, I achieved what I wanted, something I was happy to put my name to.
