subject: Actions Against The Police - Stand Up And Be Counted! [print this page]

Imagine being falsely imprisoned for a crime you didn't commit, with no evidence pointing in your direction. Imagine also, being wrongfully manhandled, or even abused, by the police who are supposed to be protecting you. There are other reasons that may lead you to take actions against the police, such as unlawful police trespass, damages to property cause by the police, or even the confiscation of personal property that is not in relation to any criminal activity.

Although it can create a stressful situation when you realise that you really need to take actions against the police, there is support and guidance available for you, in order to create a successful case. There are many situations where police have acted in a way that goes against public interest, and it is important that they are also held accountable for their actions, just as we would, as citizens in society.

There are many people over the years that have been wrongly imprisoned or mistreated by the police, however have not realised that they had the power to do something about it. Many can be forgiven for this, as they have been taught to respect and honour the police and their role in the community. To speak up against them, would feel unnatural or 'wrong' in many circumstances. What people need to be aware of is that police need to be held accountable, and that their actions are certainly not above the law. If you have a genuine claim to make, then you should consult professional solicitors that specialise in taking actions against the police, for the various crimes that they commit within the community.

A professional solicitor will be able to study the details of your particular case and will be able to put you at ease with your decision. Obviously you would need to make sure that your claim is genuine, and it would be even better if you had evidence or eye witnesses, who are able to confirm the details that were experienced, when your particular situation with the police occurred.

Providing all of the necessary information to your specialised solicitor, will enable them to create a solid case, and will also increase the likelihood of a successful claim. There are many cases where police have been asked to account for their actions, and there are many ordinary citizens that have successfully made their claim and won. There is no need to be worried about repercussions and your solicitor will also be able to clarify this with you.

The police should not bully you into being scared of them or try to convince you to drop your claim. If this was to happen, make sure you inform your solicitor, as this will only add strength to the claim. It is quite sad that we even need to worry about the police being involved in criminal activity, however, in recent times it has been happening more often.
