Diamond Lake is where I love to spend my weekends and some work weeks in the summertime. It is a small fishing lake in Kosciusko County
near Silver Lake, Indiana and is one of 81 lakes in the state. There is a public ramp, and power boats are allowed, although there is a speed limit. Its a pleasant spot for pontoon boating, swimming, fishing, and fly fishing. Sunfish and bluegill are favorite catches here. Other closeby lakes are McClures Lake, Loon Lake, and Yellow Creek Lake. Like most of the rest of Indiana, typical precipitation is June being the wettest and February being the driest months. Highs in the summer are in the 80s during the daytime,
usually falling to the 60s at night. In the winter, highs are frequently in the 20s with lows around 10 degrees.
Warsaw is the nearest larger town, about 12 miles north of Silver Lake, where there are lots of opportunities for other types of entertainment, such as bowling, theater, shopping, and ballgames. There is also the Village at Winona Lake, where there is more lodging, galleries, artisan shops, and eateries. Places to rent and to camp can be found in the area at Lukens Lake Resort in Roann, Jellystone in Pierceton, River City in South Whitley, and Naomi Cains Lake Breeze on Yellow Creek Lake. I love the quaint little cafes, not too far away, such as the Bee Hive on Beaver Dam Lake and Keifers Iron Skillet downtown in Silver Lake. If youd like a beautiful and inexpensive holiday, you might enjoy this area of Indiana. Other places are interesting, but I wouldnt be happy anywhere else for an extended stay.
