subject: Motivating Yourself To Exercise [print this page]

Motivating yourself to exercise can be one of the greatest challenges that you face. However, it will also be one of the most rewarding.

There are many ways to motivate yourself to exercise. Exercising is not easy and it can be very challenging at times.

As a result, you will need various methods to develop a habit of exercising. One thing you can do to find this motivation is focus on how you feel after your workout instead of during the workout.

You will notice the difference right away. Most people feel fantastic after a workout, even if the workout was one of the greatest struggles in his or her life.

The way you feel after you workout may encourage you to exercise again next time. Another way some people find motivation is to realize that exercising is a good excuse to take some time for yourself to think.

Many mothers do not get a moment during the day to stop and slow down. With the demands of their family, which they love, they forget to take care of themselves.

However, one of the best ways to make sure your family is properly taken care of is to take care of yourself. If you do not take care of yourself you will not be able to go out and play soccer with your boys or even take a walk later in life.

Another reason many people exercise is because of the calories that can be burned that way. Exercising is a great way to lose weight and begin feeling great.

The more you exercise the more calories you can burn. This means that you can eat more and not gain weight or eat the same amount and lose weight.

The best reason to exercise is because you are having fun. As long as you are having fun, you will want to exercise.

If you are not having fun or if you are becoming bored with the exercise you are doing, you will want to change the type of exercise you are participating in. Try going out for a women's volleyball team, joining an aerobics class, or going swimming.

Another great reason many people exercise is because of the way that they will look when they really begin to exercise. Most people love feeling like they look great.

It is a lot of fun to dress up in your fancy duds every once in a while and go out to eat. That image would be enhanced if you were slimmer and more in shape.

The feeling of looking great can be enough to motivate many people to exercise. It is a wonderful way to feel and it can motivate you do many other things as well.

Another thing that can help you feel motivated to exercise is reading workout magazines. These magazines usually have uplifting stories and new ideas of ways to exercise, make exercising easier, and to become even more motivated.

You can even read these while you exercise to distract you from the exercise. Reading is something that you can most easily do on a stationary bike as your head is mostly still.

In other forms of exercise you are bouncing up and down too much to read. However, the stationary bike allows you to do pretty much anything while you exercise.

You can study for class, play a video game, or watch your favorite TV show. These things are very effective in helping you pass the time during which you exercise.

Another motivating thing that you can read is exercise blogs. Blogs are full of personal experiences that are written by real people.

These experiences have not been handpicked and edited like the experiences in the magazines. These stories are often very inspirational and can be very motivating.

It may also be a good idea to set very short term goals for yourself and choosing rewards for when you reach your goals. These goals may be a simple as exercising three times a week for a half an hour for the next two weeks.

Be sure to write these goals down or you will forget them and they will not help. In addition, make sure you choose a reward that you are really excited about and which will help you stay motivated.

As you complete your goals, make sure that you choose new ones. Your newer goals should become increasingly harder and more challenging.

Even though it may be challenging to stay motivated to exercise, you will never regret it. You will greatly enjoy the benefits that you receive from exercising on a regular basis, even if it difficult at times.
