subject: Does The Dallas Cowboys Belong On A Gold Platter? [print this page] The Dallas CowboysThe Dallas Cowboys. It's very simple, either you love them or you hate them. There is no in between. Three is no mediocre attitude when it comes to America's Team. There is no argument that they are the most popular team in profession football (and only second behind Manchester United for the most popular sports team in the world) but that popularity comes with a price. They have won only one playoff game in the last 14 yrs, not an impressive feat, but still they remain at the top of the discussion every year when it comes to teams that will be in contention. Dallas always has the talent. So why can't they put together a season that takes them back to the Big Dance? Especially now that the Dance is in their living room.
So, look back when the they were at the big bowl. They had the talent...Moose, Troy, Emmitt, and the list goes on, and on...They all ways had the determination plus they had thee coach. That's right...Jimmy Johnson (good luck on Survivor this year). He's a coach that wouldn't take crap from anyone including his players, his fans or his boss. He was there for one reason and one reason only. Win. Of course, every coach is going to say the same thing but Jimmy actually meant it. He was the head dude, but when he was challenged he split. Why else would you leave after winning back to back Super Bowls and had the potential to win more? Even when Jimmy was gone, The Cowboys won a Super Bowl. Its OK, Barry, no one blames you. But we will blame the owner. We all ways blame the owner, and we will keep blaming them, just un till they are gone. Don't get me wrong, I love the new stadium, I love all the cool stuff he does and as an owner (and only an owner) he is an OK guy. But he insists on getting involved in things that he has proven time and time again that he has no idea about.
Lets look at this year. We have the talent...Tony, Roy, Dez, Marion, Marcus...we have the coach (he is no Jimmy but he is solid) but this year is looking grim. We have already lost 2 games we should have won. I guess we felt sorry for KC and decided to give the wins to them. (Perhaps it goes back to the Dallas Texans days.) And here we are. Not in a good place. Not in a good frame of mind. At least we get a break with the bye week, and we go into it with a win, specially when they came off a great win over the Colts. I really admire the Houston Texans, just so you know. It's like the wimpy kid down the road that for years we had to stick up for because we were bigger and stronger and now he's all grown up and he's really ticked off at EVERYONE.
Lets all hope and pray. No one has an reason to be out of church this Sunday with Dallas not playing so lets all take a moment on Sunday to pray that Romo doesn't meet a blonde, that Roy remembers to get out of bed again like he did last week and that Jerry thinks that our bye is NEXT week and forgets to come out when we play the Titans. Hope and pray, folks. Hope and pray
