subject: Stocking Stuffers For Great Men's Christmas Gifts [print this page]

One of the nicest holiday gift traditions is the Christmas stocking. They don't need to cost too much or be large items, and Christmas stocking gifts are a chance to spoil the man in your life with small gifts that can be practical, unusual, or just plain fun! You'll sometimes hear it said that it's hard to find good presents for men -- but don't draw the conclusion that it's hard to think of presents that will delight your dad, your brother, your partner or co-worker. Stocking stuffers for men can be found in almost any store department or on an Internet shopping site.

In many houses, it's a tradition that holiday stockings are exchanged at a different time from from the main Christmas presents. In our family, we like to have stockings first thing on Christmas morning -- perhaps with a special breakfast or even a glass of something special! It makes a lovely start to Christmas Day with the exchange of a few very simple gifts, before the main business of the day gets under way -- whether it be getting ready for church, preparing Christmas lunch, or going out to meet family or friends.

Don't forget that stocking fillers are not major gifts -- they may sometimes even be things you have made yourself. If you're planning a Christmas stocking for a man, there are plenty of gift ideas to give you inspiration. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

* Socks and handkerchiefs: people always seem to think that little things like socks, ties and handkerchiefs make dull presents! But it's quite likely that there are many men who really appreciate receiving useful, practical gifts like these. After all, men go through these items regularly throughout the year. If you want to jazz things up a bit, you could use your imagination and choose an item in an unusual color or a bold pattern. It will at the very least make a gift to remember!

* Continuing the clothing theme, what about a fun holiday T-shirt, perhaps customized with a favorite logo, cartoon character or message with a special association. Does he enjoy movies or TV? If so, you might be able to find a T-shirt that's related to his interest -- or design your own image.

* Does your man like to cook? A visit to your local specialist food store or delicatessen can turn up all kinds of small festive delights, such as chocolate, chutney, or cheese. Maybe a small bottle of his favorite beverage will be just the thing to surprise him. Christmas is a great time for sharing food treats -- and many stores stock special holiday themed merchandise that suits this purpose well.

* Nowadays lots of men use skincare products. So men's grooming products are very popular at Christmas time, and a small tube of moisturizer or a luxury soap can make a very welcome gift.

* Most men are intrigued by clever gadgets A nifty travel alarm clock, a tire pressure gauge or a remote control key finder can all be fun and practical items to fascinate him. Keep an eye on the Christmas catalogs and lists of gift ideas in magazines and newspapers that start appearing in December for ideas and inspiration.

* Does he like word games and quizzes? At this time of year you'll be sure to find a compendium of his favorite brainteasers at your local bookstore. If he's into reading, see if one of his favourite authors has a book out in paperback.

Remember that your stocking stuffers can be inexpensive as well as inspired. Most people need to try to keep their costs down at Christmas, so why not visit your local dollar store to make a start? You'll find plenty of items that you would probably have never thought of that could be the beginnings of a fabulous Christmas stocking.
