subject: Have A Safe New Year | Time For New Beginnings 2010 | New Year 2010 [print this page] The New Year is a time for new beginningsThe New Year is a time for new beginnings. Ringing in the New Year is a time for joy and revelry. January 1 marks the end of a period of remembrance of a particular passing year, especially on radio, television, and in newspapers, which usually starts right after Christmas Day. Often there are also articles on planned or expected changes in the coming year, such as the description of new laws that often take effect on January 1.
My article here is going to give you some guidance to make your New Years Eve even more beautiful!
We are sure that you have great plans for partying this year. Being cautious at this time may sound boring to some, but a little bit of caution can go a long way in preventing some serious tragedy.
Just keep the following in mind to have a exciting and New Years Eve...
If you are going out to celebrate the New Year, make sure that you go with a group of friends whom you know well and whom you know that you can trust.
Always make sure that someone responsible is aware of your whereabouts. Keep your cell fully charged to make sure that you can call someone in case of emergency.
Eat food before you drink alcohol, as the effects of alcohol are increased on an empty stomach. Do not feel pressured to drink if you do not wish to or if you are not used to drinks.
Do not drink and drive and dont let a drunken friend drive you either. Follow the rule your parents taught to you when you were a kid-dont talk to strangers, even more importantly dont accept drinks from strangers and obviously DO NOT accept a lift back home from strangers.
If you are hosting a party in your house you will probably be surrounded by happy but highly distracted friends and family. To prevent untoward accidents ensure that your guests who are smokers put their cigarettes out properly.
If you are decorating your house with candles, never leave the candles unattended or keep them in holders so they can't fall over and start a fire.
For some of us, New Years Eve without a display of fireworks may sound incomplete. The best option in that case, would be to go for a public display of fireworks and watch the fireworks at a distance. But if you are at a private party or are hosting a party for New Years Eve where fireworks are going to be displayed, make sure that there is a responsible adult who has not been drinking in charge of lighting the fireworks. Remember that even a small quantity of alcohol can impair ones judgment.
Only use fireworks outdoors. Have a fire extinguisher nearby and never try to re-light a firework that did not go off when first lit. Make sure that everyone, especially pets and children are at a safe distance from where fireworks are being ignited.
