The fast pace we all seem to be experiencing these days sometimes just demands that we get away, refresh and unwind. It's good to know that you don't have to travel any farther than our southern neighbor, Mexico, to enjoy an exciting yet relaxing experience but travel here will demand that you have either a passport book or passport card. You can get your United States passport card ID online if you plan to travel by car or by train but if you will be flying, you will need a passport book.

I'm sure you realize that all international travel requires a passport but you may not be aware that if your travel to a location near the United States and are utilizing either land or sea transportation, only a passport card is required. These are less expensive than a passport book and there are courier passport services available online waiting to assist you with the process.

Should you decide to visit Mexico, our southern neighbor, you may want to travel to Mexico City. This is not only the capital of Mexico but it is also its largest city and provides all the big city life any vacationer could ever want. Aside from nightlife, Mexican food, colorful street festivals as well as ancient ruins beacon visitors from all over the world. The culture of the Mexican people is permeated with joy and a zest for life so a visit here can certainly provide a great opportunity to loose the worries of everyday life.

Don't be fooled into thinking the Mexico City is just a party town. There is a rich history and culture to be investigated in its museums and you will even have the opportunity to experience the performing arts. People are often surprised to learn that this city is home to the Palacio de Bellas Artes which hosts performance by opera and theatre companies as well as concerts by locals and foreigners alike. A visit to this performing arts center will treat you to a site that is quite spectacular and that is the stained glass curtain that is raised before each performance. The Palacio de Bellas Artes houses not only the performing arts but also the visual arts as it also features a museum where over 6,000 pieces of world famous art can be viewed.

Sometimes a visit to a big city like Mexico City can be exhausting but don't worry, this diverse city contains a section known as Coyoacan. This part of Mexico City contains cobblestone streets and lush open spaces with thick, green grass perfectly suited for a family picnic or a Mexican siesta.

Mexico City is also a living testament to the ancient cultures that once lived in Mexico and Central America. The Pyramids of Teotihuacan are a must-see, as they will absolutely take your breath away. Be sure to do a little research before seeing these ancient pyramids, as it only enhances the experience that much more. The monumental pyramids, still adorned with ancient carving sand hieroglyphics. The echoes of this great, incredibly advanced and powerful civilization still reverberate, and the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Moon, and theTemple of the Plumed Serpent will no doubt leave you breathless.

Mexico City has so much to offer the visitor that it is hard to only name a few of the attractions but get your passport book or card and see for yourself.
