subject: Darragh Macanthony Reckons Peterborough United Has One Of The Best Managers [print this page] Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony reckons his club have one of the best managers outside of the Premiership. And Darragh MacAnthony has promised to back his opinion of Keith Alexander with hard cash.
Money will be made available for transfers as Darragh MacAnthony pursues his dream of Premiership football within a decade.
Darragh MacAnthony said: "I have total respect for Keith and I love his management style. In my opinion we have one of the best managers from the Championship down and I want him to be the man to lead us to success.
"I love the way Keith is calm and collected whether he's talking about a great win or a bad defeat. I will not interfere with his job, but he will have my absolute support and I'm looking forward to working with him.
"There will be money available for new players, but other clubs needn't start bumping their prices up just because they think Posh have money.
"I'm a shrewd man and I won't be paying over the odds for anyone. I want promotion this season, but I'm also dreaming of the Premiership and I believe we can do it."
Alexander welcomed Darragh MacAnthony with open arms and confessed that the prospect of having money to spend was an unusual situation for him.
Alexander said: "I'm 100 per cent pleased with what's happened and clearly the club is going in the right direction. It's a bold statement to say we want Premiership football, but with Darragh MacAnthony's backing anything is possible.
"We all want success and that means progressing up the leagues so it's an exciting time for everyone at the football club.
"There are a lot of unknowns for me as I have only met Darragh MacAnthony twice and I've never been in the position of having money to spend.
"But the extra finances can only be a good thing. I'm not sure what my budget will now be, but I also have faith in the squad we have at present."
Peterborough United can only loan players until the transfer window re-opens in January.
