One monument was actually built twice. This is Igreja de Santo Antonio de Lisboa. A 1755 earthquake caused its destruction and it was later rebuilt the ruins.

Some of the gardens were built a few centuries ago and are laid out in a very pleasing manner. The Ajuda Botanical Garden and Estrela Garden are well worth seeing.
