subject: How To Keep Your Coffee From Spoiling [print this page]

The ideal coffee is made from freshly roasted ground coffee beans that are used to brew using coffee makers. This is quite expensive. However, you can still enjoy if you could preserve the freshness of the aroma and flavour. With the right packaging, you can enjoy the same cup of coffee for a long period of time.

If you plan to store your coffee, here are a few things you should know. Coffee spoils when exposed to sunlight, heat, moisture, or even air. So if your container allows any of these in, expect not so good coffee.

Notice, when you buy coffee beans they are either vacuum packed or freeze-dried. This is beacause these processes aid in keeping the coffee beans fresh and preserving their flavor.

As a coffee lover, you should know the reason why coffee beans are roasted. When coffee beans are roasted, the oils which is what gives coffee is flavor, comes to the surface. This highly prized oil needs to be kept from interacting with the atmosphere for too long because it can turn rancid leaving coffee tasting sour.

Roasting coffee beans discharges gases from the beans that create a pleasant aroma around the surroundings. The key is to saving the freshness of the flavour and aroma is to package it before these gases will totally disperse away.

Since vacuum packaging would mean getting the aroma out of the system, this is not recommended for coffee packaging.

When you have coffee ground, it's recommended that you buy just enough for your weekly consumption. That way, you'll always have fresh coffee every week. Make sure you place them in an air-tight container that keeps sunlight out. Ceremic containers are the best as they keep the coffee dry, cool, and sunlight-free.

These containers can be easily purchased in kitchen ware sections of the department stores. The better ones come with rubber lids and locks.
