Though this endeavour we aim to help our readers imbibe corporate values that can go a long way in ensuring long term professional success albeit through the most loved mass medium on the planet Films! We thus aim to ensure that the message gets across through particular scenes in the selected films that showcase the message and values that we can take and apply in our workplace so as to enable us to become truly inspired, motivated and successful.

In the first video of our Workplace Lessons Thu' Films' series, we present a particularly memorable scene from American Director Sam Peckinpah's provocative, brilliant yet controversial Western Film Classic The Wild Bunch. The films tells the story of tells of aging, scroungy outlaws bound by a private code of honour, camaraderie and friendship, but they find that they are at odds with the American society of 1913. Watch the 5 minute scene from the film and understand the truth behind the message below that is inherent in the scene and in the dialogues and the imagery and then read our message below.

Before we look at ethical behavior, we must first define what ethics is. The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines "ethics" as "the moral principles governing or influencing conduct." The negative effect of unethical behaviour in executives and managers in the workplace has spurred many employers to review what ethics in the workplace actually means. Most of us have worked for one or more companies. I'm sure we have all experienced staff that exercise unethical behaviors. Some infractions may appear small while others are larger. The bottom line is that no matter what the misconduct is, it interrupts the smooth flow of any organization. Unethical behaviour could be stealing products or money from the company or worse sexual harassment. Ethics in the workplace is what helps to keep the playing field fair and harmonious.

Our moral status holds a big key to our integrity, whether we are able to be honest or caring, opposed to lying, stealing and hurting a person's feeling by discriminating against them. Being committed to doing what is right versus what is wrong should be our main focus. It is important to have integrity in the work place for many reasons. It demonstrates reliability and responsible behaviour. To be trustworthy is definitely a quality that employers are looking for.

A strong deterrent to unethical behavior is ethical leadership. The perception of an employee is greatly based upon what they hear and more important what they see from their superiors. What then are the downfalls of unethical behavior in the workplace? In today's workplace, all over the world, you can find behaviors of misconduct from both employer and employee alike. Many companies are creating a set code of ethics to maintain discipline amongst staff. From the highest CEO down to the student intern, ethics are an important part of any work environment.
