This leads to the second reason why a website is so wonderful for your lead generation prospects your readers or visitors are doing most of the heavy lifting. Yes, you have to update the website, give pertinent information and all that. You'll also have to let them know you're alive and kicking - but then everything else is on the reader. They're contacting you because they're interested and that's how you get them to be a part of your network; they're already halfway there and they just need a push.
