A dissertation title is also termed as an over view of your entire dissertation. It gives the reader an idea of what your dissertation is all about. If not stated properly, it can mislead the reader and thus cause trouble. Therefore you must make sure that your title highlights your work in the best manner. Dissertation title is the first thing that grabs the attention of the audience. If it is interesting and grabs the attention of your reader then only will your reader be inclined to go through your work and if not then all your effort will go to waste. How to make a dissertation title is a very important question as there are certain things that you must take in to account before you start to write.

First thing is the use of simple and easy to understand language. Your title must not be full of technical terms. It should state what your dissertation is about in plain language. The drawback of using technical or difficult to understand terms is that the readers are unable to relate it to themselves and thus they dont want to read it.

Dissertation title must not be too long. One to two sentences is normally considered ideal. It should not contain stories and paragraphs of your work. If you explain everything in the title then why will they go on and read your dissertations?

Try to make use of action verbs in your title that clearly describe the work that you did. For example: methods, techniques, analysis etc. This gives the reader a clear idea of the work that they are about to read. Vague terms such as to study the problems associated with .. must not be used as they dont communicate your actual message to the reader.

Dissertation title should grab the attention of the audience. Try to come up with an interesting statement that compels the reader to read your research work.

Choose a topic title that is relevant to your field. The research must have helped you gain some knowledge regarding your field and will also provide useful insights and knowledge to the reader.

Finally always seek the help of your advisor at every stage of writing be it when deciding a topic or when writing a dissertation titles. Advisors feedback is extremely valuable in writing a good dissertation.
