subject: Engine Options For the Chevrolet HHR [print this page]

The 2010 Chevrolet HHR comes with enough engine options to satisfy any consumer's desires. There are 2 engine options, the 2.2 liter 4 cylinder and the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder.

The 2.2 liter 4 cylinder is the most common engine configuration in the 2010 HHR. This engine has 155 horsepower at 6100 RPM, and 150 ft. lbs of torque at 4800 RPM. It is an inline four configuration, and has four valves per cylinder. The cylinders are bore out of aluminum, as is the head. This engine configuration gets an EPA estimated 16 miles per gallon in the city, and 23 miles per gallon on the highway. This engine is carried over from the previous year's model, with a few improvements on the fuel economy. The fuel economy is about 1 mile per gallon higher than the previous year.

The next configuration, the 2.0 liter engine, has a smaller displacement than the 2.2 liter, but has more horsepower due to its turbo. This engine is only available inside of the SS model. This particular engine configuration has 260 horsepower at 5300 RPM and 260 ft. lbs of torque at 2000 RPM. This engine is also cast entirely out of aluminum, which keeps the weight of the car low, in addition to improving fuel economy. It has 4 valves per cylinder, just like the 2.2 liter. This engine gets an EPA estimated 21 miles per gallon in the city, and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. This engine has many more advanced design features as opposed to the 2.2 liter. This engine is the most popular choice due to its better fuel economy, higher horsepower number, and general efficiency. It's advanced design makes it the perfect choice for someone who wants a car with good gas mileage, while still retaining the fun factor.
