Going to a psychiatrist and paying for medication can be very expensive, it can cost hundreds of dollars. This may be effective for the majority of people.

The bad news is that taking medication for an anxiety problem doesn't fix the main problem it only masks it. One thing that has been proven effective in successfully treating anxiety and depression is CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy combined with prescription drugs. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps the person to be aware that he is having negative thoughts or thinking errors and then replace them with more realistic thinking. CBT is only going to be effective if the anxious person is ready to face his or her fears.

But don't be scared because in CBT you would only start by facing a small fear and when you get comfortable, then you would move on to a bigger fear. Another effective method of reducing your anxiety effectively is by taking up an exercise routine. If you exercise everyday for at least twenty minuets you can decrease your anxiety by a large percentage, because when you exercise the brain creates serotonin which is a feel good chemical.
