Pizza is a known delicacy to many individuals worldwide, but how did this delectable meal come to be? The idea for this meaningful dish dates back past the creation of Italy. The Greeks had came up with this idea of baking bread with round and flat surfaces. Then by adding a combination of things to top it with. Like for instince, olive oil and certain types of spices turned out to be favorites for some of the locals. Leaves had some interest as a typical topping, along with different types of meat and fruit. Originally, pizza was first created by a local baker named Raffeale Esposito in Naples, Italy. Esposito had this creative idea of wanting to create a unique kind of bread that stands out from all others in Naples. He had an experimental mind set of adding marinara sauce to this new and soon to be fantastic dish. Esposito started adding cheese to the bread and letting the dough take its known shape as a large round pie.

Esposito's creation was immediately looked at as a favorite. This creation definately made Esposito popular with the locals to where he was summoned to make pizza's for King Umberto, as well as Queen Margherita of Italy in 1889. Upon their arrival, he created three new colorful dishes to mirror the Italian flag which happened to be white cheese, red sauce and green basil spices that signified his loyalty to his country. The creation of these new developed pizza's turnout to be such a big hit that he named them after Queen Margherita.

Later in 1830, the pizzeria was established, to making it possible for others in Italy to taste Esposito's creation. The news of Esposito's pies had spread accross the land to other Italian cities, sparking a new trend of food. Soon others started mimicing his style of creating pies but, they were being made in a totally different way. The most common competitive pie being made by other locals were those being created using garlic mixes, as well as natural tomatoes and the freshes Naples cheese, famed from its crumbly texture and unusually solid taste. This style of pie making later became the heart of Italian food creations. Pizza had quickly spread to America, Spain, France and England after its Italian birth. Very little was known about these pies in these respectable countries until World War II. After occupying the Italians territory, many American and European troops had the chance of tasting the imfamous pies started by Esposito himself.
