subject: The All-new Cobra Zl Driver [print this page] The Cobra ZL Driver, new for 2010, stands for Zero Limits and is designed for players seeking maximum distance while maintaining accuracy. Created to push the boundaries of forgiveness and distance, the Cobra ZL is designed to be the longest driver in Cobra history, surpassing the limits of the famous line of King Cobra drivers. It has already been adopted by Pro golfers Geoff Ogilvy, Ian Poulter, and JB Holmes, and as of November 1st, it is now available to golfers everywhere.
Engineered with a composite construction combining a carbonfiber crown and sole with a titanium chassis and clubface, the 6-4 titanium blend provides a softer, more forgiving feel. Cobra has been the one company that has chosen to stick with and perfect the carbonfiber technology.
Cobra has also designed the club with a swing weight screw to shift the center of gravity towards the heel of the head, while allowing the face to maintain its square alignment. Using the adjustable hosel, the face angle can be changed to open, neutral, or closed. Known as Adjustable Flight Technology, these settings deliver accurate and consistent distance through surprisingly easy, user-friendly adjustments. These design features are engineered to help golfers of all skill levels achieve maximum speed and distance.
The Cobra ZL does away with the Crown Dimples, long a standard feature on Cobra clubs. As a result, the Cobra ZL has a more traditional look than previous Cobra drivers. This multi-material driver is pleasant to hit, and is known for its pleasant sound at impact - no harsh or loud thud with this club.
The Cobra ZL comes with a stock 46-inch Graphite Design Tour shaft, available in R and S flexes for men. Custom orders offer Senior, Lite, and women's options, in addition to other shaft types. Some players may find the 46 inch standard shaft too long, and it may create problems with accuracies. The available lofts include 8.5, 10.5, and 11.5 degrees. The head size is 460cc, with adjustable face angles. Instead of pushing the limits of head size or other measurements, Cobra emphasizes actual performance with this model. Retails for about $350.00, I'll stick with my Cleveland Hi-Bore's.
