subject: Chrome Wall Mounted Clothes Rail – A Beautiful Idea [print this page] My daughter recently moved outMy daughter recently moved out. She is twenty five and to be honest we couldn't wait for her to go. Not that we don't love her. We do. But it just didn't feel right that our grown up offspring didn't have the freedom and privacy which having her own place would give her.
Well, now that she's been gone a couple of months I can own up and say that we too are now enjoying a freedom and privacy that we haven't known for twenty five years. That's apart from the odd school trip and, more lately, holidays she's had with friends.
I should say that we haven't entirely had a clean break from our daughter. She'd been moved into her flat exactly two days when she rang up to say could I pop round with my toolbox? Now, when I hear pop round and toolbox in the same sentence I'm old enough to know that I might as well pack the sleeping bag too!
When I arrived with said toolbox she showed me into the bedroom where an unopened brown box lay on the floor. She told me it was a chrome wall mounted clothes rail. This was a very sensible purchase as I had witnessed for years how my daughter stored her clothes. In this instance the word stored is a little misleading. Stashed is probably a better description! It was interesting to see my daughter realised that her mother was no longer on hand to pick up, tidy up and generally make her bedroom fit for human habitation.
Installing the clothes rail was surprisingly easy. My daughter started hanging her clothes on it before the electric drill had cooled down. It was as near as you can get to a DIY instant success.
If your son or daughter is still at home but you feel they really should be spreading their wings from their own house or flat, make sure you don't install a wall mounted clothes rail in their bedroom while they're living with you. You'll never get rid of the little darlings!
