subject: The Most Memorable Spielberg Movies Throughout The Years [print this page]

Any time you are going to have a discussion about the greatest directors of all time, one person who must be mentioned is Steven Spielberg. For decades now, Spielberg has been churning out classics that both our children and we continue to see. When it comes to directors with a catalog of classic films, few come close to Spielberg.

But which of his films have been his greatest works? The following movies are my personal favorites.

The first film I would like to discuss is probably the most kid friendly on this list. E.T: The Extraterrestrial came out in 1982 and has been considered a classic ever since. People of all ages tend to love this movie. The ride at Universal Studios is incredibly fun as well.

Another great film directed by Steven Spielberg is Saving Private Ryan. This is one of my favorite films of all time, let alone the fact that it is directed by one of the greatest of all time. It came as no surprise that Spielberg won the 1999 Academy Award for Best Director for this movie.

One other fantastic Spielberg directed movie is Jurassic Park. Prior to Jurassic Park, the best dinosaurs we had seen on screen were in the Godzilla movies. This was some revolutionary stuff, and even when it is on these days, the dinosaurs still look impressive.

One movie that must be included on any list of Steven Spielberg films is Schindler's List. If you have yet to see this movie, do yourself a favor and dedicate four hours (it is very long) on a rainy Saturday to watch it.

One movie that definitely makes my best of Steven Spielberg films list is Jaws. My favorite part about this movie is how we don't even see the shark for a good amount of the film. He manages to scare us using the "stalker cam" technique; without even seeing the shark, we are still terrified.

Hopefully there is at least one Steven Spielberg film on this list that you have yet to see. If it's any indication how legendary this director is, Microsoft Word autocorrected his name when I spelled it wrong!
