subject: How To Prepare A Successful Private Business Reception For Network Marketing [print this page]

If you have joined a network marketing company and plan to use private business receptions to help build your business, here are a few tips on how to prepare a successful private business reception (PBR) in your home to introduce your guests to the opportunity.

Do...

- Keep it simple. Make it easy to duplicate. As your guests evaluate the opportunity, they will be looking to see if this is something that they think they can do themselves.

- Dress attire should be business casual.

- Set up only 3 to 5 chairs at a time. Add more as guests arrive. You do not want the room to look empty with extra chairs.

- Turn off house phones, cell phones, television and other distractions.

- Play upbeat music to create positive energy in the room.

- If possible, have another team member there to show support. One team member per every 3-4 guests. Do not overwhelm your guests with more members of your network marketing company than there are guests.

- Have applications, brochures and pens available. You want to always be prepared for people who want to review brief information now and join immediately.

- Have information and packets to take home available. Also prepare for people who want to take information home to review first before making a decision.

- Serve refreshments after the private business reception is over. Give light snacks only. You do not want people eating during the PBR as it is a distraction.

Do not...

- Do not rearrange your furniture. Keep it just the way it is when your friends come by. That way, if only a few people show up, it does not look like you were expecting a whole room full of people.

- Do not offer any alcoholic beverages. Enough said.

- Do not interject your thoughts during the presentation. Let the expert leading the presentation be the expert. Allow the presenter to answer all questions.

- Do not have on the television. Control your environment.

- Do not have kids, pets, or smoking. Minimize your distractions. It is hard to compete for attention with adorable kids or pets present.

- Do not leave the room during the presentation. It sets the tone that that behavior is OK and your guests will do it too and lose focus and maybe interest.

It is essential to control your environment when hosting private business receptions. This may be your guests first exposure to your network marketing company. Make a great first impression each time by following these steps and watch your team grow. That is, assuming of course, that you have joined a great opportunity and have the right support in building your business. With those things in place, you will be closer to living the life of your dreams if you stay the course and put in the work.
