subject: Range Rover Evoque, Something Different [print this page]

Although still very much under wraps, with only a single photo released so far, the new Range Rover Evoque is expected to turn heads at the Paris Motor Show in September when it is finally put on public display.

The Evoque will be the smallest and lightest Range Rover ever and with its two doors, completely novel look and high expectations of great fuel efficiency; it should be an interesting addition. It still has the big Range Rover wheels but is very different in style to any other vehicle they have produced to date.

Like all Range Rovers, it will be available as a four-wheel drive as well as a two-wheeled version. Where the design differs is with its steeply sloping roof and bulldog nosed front end. It has a distinctive narrow grille with two flaring air intakes underneath and an arched back.

Again, being a Range Rover it is designed for rough terrain and eating up the miles on or off-road should pose no particular problem. Along with its 240 bhp engine, it also comes equipped with a six-speed gearbox, independent suspension and the now famous Rover, Terrain Response System, which allows the Evoque to easily cross a variety of surfaces such as grass, gravel or snow.

The exterior is built for rugged all-terrain travel but the interior is an elegant and stylish cabin. There are different ambient lighting settings depending on the terrain you are travelling across and the aluminium dashboard comes fitted with an iPhone docking point. The whole interior has an open, airy feel to it and with powered rear seats too all occupants are guaranteed to have a comfortable ride.

Stylish looking and capable of giving a smooth, comfortable drive in both urban areas and across country, the Evogue should prove a popular member of the Range Rover family.
