One of the first and must see attractions is the Swedish Museum of Architecture, which shows the rich history of architecture not only in Stockholm, but all around Sweden. It also have exhibits from around the world. It is open every day but Monday, and adults over nineteen are charged just 50 Krona, anyone 19 and under are free. You can also get in free on Fridays, from 4-6PM.

Once the tallest structure in Scandinavia, the Kaknas Tower is just outside the center of town, and rises over five hundred feet above the city. Built in the 1960's as a television and radio tower, it is now open to tourism, with panoramic views, and restaurants to relax and ponder your next destination. Unfortunately this spectacular marvel is only open during the summer months to the public.

Originally belonging to a Franciscan Friary, the Riddarholm Church is another site to see. Sitting on the South end of Birger Jarsltorg square, it is an important Stockholm landmark. It has a cast iron steeple, with was added in 1841, and has been the burial place of Swedish Monarchs since 1807. It is easy to spot, with its steeple standing almost 300 feet high.

Built in the Renaissance styling of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, the Royal Palace has been a grand site to see on the island of Stadsholm since 1728. It stands on the same site as the medieval castle Vesan which was destroyed in 1697 by fire. The palace has 500 rooms, with Baroque, and Roccoco decorations in each one. King Oscar the second occupied the first floor apartments until his death in 1907. It is open year round, from May through August every day from 10-4, and from September through May, 12-3, closed on Mondays. It costs 100 Krona for adults, 50 for kids and students 7-18. Kids six and under are free.

Whenever you are visiting Stockholm, it is a good idea to check with each website for each attraction that you want to see, to check if there are any other restrictions. Some are closed on holidays, and since some of these are different than in the United States, it is a good idea to make sure when they are open. Due to your budget constraints, you may want to also check and see if any have free admission days, which could save you money.

With all the attractions Stockholm has to offer, you need to book your hotel reservations online. There are many different sites to choose from, and some sites have special discount when grouping flight, accommodations, and car rentals together. Not only is it a good idea to book early for lodging, but if you want to be able to get into some of these places without any problems, you should book these at this time as well.
