subject: Enjoy More Flexibility When Designing With Zw3d [print this page]

ZW3D has a unique modeling method called Hybrid Modeling, which can mix solids and surfaces. With it, designers do not need to put too much stress on solid surfacing, as the hybrid modeling will do it automatically. To show how it works, we will use the ZW3D modeling on a simple guitar.

1. With a myriad of sketch functions, drawing a sketch in ZW3D is very convenient, and editing features is also very simple. Furthermore, functions of geometry constraint and parameter technology are available. The mouse functions are very intelligent. The middle-mouse-button can be used to help finish operations, and the dimensions and constraints can be built automatically when the sketch is created. The following figure shows a sketch of a guitar including the dimensions and constraints.

2. The history manager, layer manager and view manager features are very user-friendly, which is very important for any 3D software. The history manager allows you to gain design ideas of products by replaying operations, which is very important to 3D CAD designers.

3. Using parametric technology is essential in designing the simple model of a guitar. With ZW3D, it is easy to define parameters to finish all kind of commands such as Extrude, Sweep, and Fillet.

4. 'Unique' command directly creates dome surfaces. It is easy to design beautiful surfaces using this function as shown below.

i.e. if we want to modify the ends of strings, we can use the 'Dome' command like so...

5. Many convenient methods of Patterns are available, such as Linear, Circular Point to Point, At Surface, and so on. Designers can combine these with defining variable to get the desired shape. The following figure shows different methods of pattern being used in the guitar.

6. Any curve can be changed into a corresponding rod shape using the Sweep command. The curves can be tangent or form "X", "T" or "L" shaped intersections as followed:

Six chords of a guitar can be generated using this command.

7. During our design, decoration is necessary, designers can choose a special picture or file, and then apply it on some face. Checkerboard, Chrome, Wood, and other textures are just some examples of gradients that can be used.Designers can choose their own patterns like the one shown below.

That is just one part of the many capabilities of ZW3D.ZW3D is able to do much more! With more advanced functions such as Free-form modeling, Mold & Die, Sheet metal, and Reverse engineering, designers are given an infinite number of possibilities for their designs. Furthermore CAD/CAM integration is seamless in ZW3D. Designers can enjoy using CAD modeling and then transfer it to CAM simulation, all-in-one convenient software - ZW3D.

About ZW3D

ZW3D, The All-in-one CAD/CAM, was included into ZWSOFT's product portfolio in 2010. As the successor of VX CAD/CAM, ZW3D provides ease-of-use, performance, and all-in-one capability. The brand new software can extend enterprise-level mechanical design and engineering capabilities to the desktop at a fraction of the cost of other comparable systems.Experience ZW3D 2010, where the only limit is your imagination.
